Geoengineering, the term for deliberate large-scale alteration of the planetary environment, is a direct result of the modern mindset. The current zeitgeist, in which we think that everything must conform to our will and wherein we are the shepherds of all that surrounds us.
Before this mindset took root, humanity lived in harmony with nature, not against it.
For quick capital gain, sand is being mined at such a rate that we are rapidly depleting the reserves and destroying entire ecosystems.
And the global climate is changing for the worse, because it would simply be too expensive to stop using fossil fuels for everything, even to the point where fossil fuel deposits are being depleted.
The destruction of entire ecosystems and the change in the climate have been largely caused by a few companies — and governments too lazy or perhaps even too corrupt to govern properly — through geoengineering.
And now those same companies and governments want to undo the damage they have done through even more geoengineering. But the problem is not how the geoengineering is being done, but the geoengineering itself.
Nature keeps itself in balance and only when there is massive intervention can it get out of balance. More geoengineering will not solve the problem, it will only create more problems.
The real way to repair the damage is to let nature repair itself, stop the disturbance and allow nature to return to its natural state.
We need to let go of this idea that we are the shepherds of the Earth. We are not. The Earth takes care of itself and we are just lucky enough to live on it.
